Creativity can be fostered and problem-solving strategies can be taught. This is important because innovation and new discoveries depend upon creative thinking and novel approaches to solving problems and addressing concerns. Life does not come with an "instruction manual" and many of the challenges that students will face have not even been seen as yet. It is therefore very important that we ensure time for creative pursuits, opportunities to consider and play with new ideas, methods and materials, and to juxtapose content and skills in innovative ways.
