Continuing Education is a world where technology is fundamental reshaping the way we work, live and learn is both a necessity and a huge challenge. In order to be competitive in today's job market, life-long learning is essential. As a means to that end, providing adult learning through adult education in the customary form will continue and yet broaden enormously.  "Distance Learning" technology includes new display and content storage platforms in all sizes from desktop PC's to mobile devices, along with a wide range of content distribution options including PEG system, satellite TV and wireless networking. Distance learning is a relatively new technology where there is increasing emphasis on innovative partnering and multi-site, virtual collaboration involving participants at local institutions, statewide colleges and in corporate and workplace settings including home offices.

Improvements in communications, network infrastructures and technical staffing will reach out to an adult population that was previously not served or under-served in this regard. ELL is an important aspect of this undertaking. Using TV, internet, and digital billboards, among other things, a vast new distance learning engine is coming to life, and it will provide hands on opportunities in a variety of settings to students of all ages, enriching personal, family and community life in the process.
