PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Utilize "2-way mentoring"-combine seasoned staff members with new tech savy hires. Each member will benefit from the expertise of the other.
- Utilize the "Train the Trainer" model for staff technology trainings.
- Provide pre-planned, posted, 1 hour, training sessions every week. These sessions will be broadcasted via polycom and be digitally recorded and posted to a repository of trainings sessions to provide anytime, anywhere access to the trainings. These trainings originally will be conducted by members of the Technology Committee with the intent of expanding the trainers to include tech savy teachers and when needed and available bringing in outside expertise.
- Expose staff to new possibilities to further the effective use of technology in the classroom. Proposed offerings include mentoring with other teachers using technology in their classrooms, school site visits, using technology integration assistants, and the PEG and Polycam systems for collaborations.
- Allocate funds by each school to allow teachers to attend technology-related seminars, conferences or workshops outside of MDIRSS91.
- Make technology staff available (both technical and curriculum integration personnel) at each school to advise teachers on computer and network use and to assist with planning and implementation of classroom projects.
- Tailor staff technology training sessions for a vareity of levels of expertise and that will emphasize integration in the classroom. At least one goal of each teachers' Professional Recertification Plan presented to the LSDCC will be related to learning about technology. Each year teachers will develop at least one (1) professional technology goal that can be integrated into the classroom curriculum.
